Hotel management includes the administration of anything that is identified with the hotel business. It includes marketing, managing hotels, providing food the board, housekeeping, accounts and effectively dealing with different parts of the business simultaneously.
Most of the colleges in India are embracing the fastest growing industry by providing various trainings in Hotel Management.There are many entrance examinations being held for this field.
List of Entrance Exams for Hotel management:
Otherwise known as National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination is held for a duration of 3 hours, once a year. It is conducted by National Testing Agency in online mode. There is an application fee of Rs 800 for general catagory and Rs 400 for SC/ST/PwD before appearing for the examination. The test includes a total of 200 multiple choice questions from the subjects- English, Aptitude for Service Sector, General Knowledge, Reasoning and Logical Deduction, Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude. For every right answer the candidate is awarded 04 marks and for every wrong answer there is a negative marking of 01 marks.
Qualification - The candidate must have cleared 12th or its equivalent with English being compulsory. The candidates who are appearing for 12th can also give the examination by providing the proof.
Age limit - The maximum age requirement for General and OBC is 25 years and for SC/ST it is 28 years.
Physical fitness - It is must for a candidate to provide a fitness certificate from a recognised doctor.

Under Graduate Aptitude Test (UGAT) generally held in the month of July is a 2 hours test. All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts the exam in online mode. The exam is held annually in order to shortlist students for entrance into BBA, BCA, Integrated MBA, BHM, B.com and other programs offered in it. The test includes four sections – English, Numerical and Data Analysis, Reasoning and General Intelligence and General Knowledge.Students can attain the online application form by making a payment of amount INR 650.The exam comprises of multiple choice questions with no negative marking at all.For IMBA, BBA, BCA etc, duration of exam will be 2 hours and for BHM, it is 3 hours.
Qualification - They must pass 12th with minimum of 50%. The students appearing for 12th can also apply for the examination.
Age limit - The candidate must be of 17 years of age to apply for the exam.
On basis of the cut off marks, the merit list will be prepared.Cut off marks is decided on the following factors-
- Number of candidates appeared in the exam
- Number of seats for allotment
- Reservation Norms
- Previous year Admission trend
- Last year cut off
- Difficulty level of the exam.
UPSEE BHMCT (Uttar Pradesh):
It is a test of duration 2 hours which is held in offline mode. The exam includes a total number of 100 objective type questions. The exam comprises questions from Reasoning and logical deduction, Numerical ability and scientific aptitude,General knowledge and English language. There is no negative marking in the test and the candidate is awarded 04 marks for every correct answer, hence making the paper of total 400 marks.
Qualifying Exam: Applicant should have passed intermediate of UP Board or 12th from any recognized board.
Marks Required: Students should have at least 45% in their 12th examination. For SC/ST the minimum requirement is 40%
Domicile: Candidates must fulfill the domicile requirements of the state.
Age Limit: There is no age limit for the examination.

MAH CET HM (Maharashtra): Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is a common entrance exam that is held in online mode with a duration of 90 minutes.The exam is conducted to offer entrance to candidates to Hotel Management and catering technology (HMCT) programme at the undergraduate level. A total number of 100 multiple choice questions are there awarding 01 marks for each correct answer and no deduction in marks for wrong answer. The questions are from subjects - General knowledge, Reasoning and English language.
Qualification: For general applicants should have cleared HSC exam or its equivalent and scored a minimum of 45%. For other sections the minimum requirement is 40%.
WB JEHOM (West Bengal): West Bengal Joint Entrance for Hospitality Management is held once a year with a duration of 1 hour 30 minutes conducted to admission to undergraduate courses of HMCT in West Bengal. The mode of exam is offline with total of 225 seats available. The exam comprises of questions from the subjects- General knowledge, English , Reasoning and elementry mathematics. For each correct answer candidate is awarded 2 marks and for each wrong answer there is a negative marking of 1/2 marks.
Nationality- Applicant must be citizens of India in order to be able to appear in the exam.
Age limit- The age of the candidate must be at least 17 years.
Qualification- Candidates must pass 12th with minimum of 45%.

PUTHAT ( Punjab University)- Panjab University Tourism & Hospitality Aptitude Test is conducted by Punjab University in offline mode for entrance examination conducted for entrance to graduate courses of Hotel Management and Catering Technology and Tourism and Travel Management. It is held annually with a duration of 1 hour 30 min with total of 99 available seats.The test includes questions from English aptitude, Current affairs and general awareness, Reasoning ability and Hospitality industry awareness. It consists of 100 questions each of 1 marks and for each wrong answer there will be deduction of 1/4 marks
Qualification- Candidates must pass the Class 12 examination with a minimum of 50% marks (45%marks for ST/SC/PwD applicants) with English as a mandatory subject.

CUET ( Christ University): Christ University Entrance Test is conducted for admission to various undergraduate courses along with BHM. The test consist of 120 multiple choice questions from 6 subjects that are Fundamental Accounting,English Language,General Knowledge and Current affairs,Quantitative Aptitude,Critical/Analytical/Logical Reasoning,Data Analysis and Interpretation. 1 marks is awarded for each correct answer and a negative marking of 0.25 marks for incorrect answer. The duration of exam is of 4 hours.
Qualification- The candidate should have passed class 12th in any stream from a recognised university.Those in class 12th are also eligible to apply.
IPU CET guru- IPU CET stands for Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test. It is an annual exam conducted in offline mode with a duration of 3hours.The test includes questions from subjects English language,General awareness, Logical and analytical ability and Knowledge of accounts / commerce and science. A total of 100 questions are there with a duration of 2.5 hours. For each correct answer 4 marks are awarded and for each info answer 1 marks will be deducted.
Qualification- Candidate must have qualified class 12 with minimum of 50% marks.Candidates must have passed in English as well.
Relaxation- Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Widows or Wards of Defence Personnel/ Persons With Disability will be allowed 5% relaxation of marks.
